Who we are
PilotWord is a free daily aviation word game at pilotword.com, operated by Brandon J. Dorsey (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you play — on the website or inside Discord — and how we use it.
Information we collect
On the website. You don’t need an account. Your game progress (today’s guesses, results, and stats) is saved in your browser’s local storage and stays on your device. We keep an anonymous, aggregate count of how many people finish each day’s puzzle, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) used briefly to operate and secure the service.
Inside Discord (Activity & bot). When you launch PilotWord in Discord and authorize it, Discord shares — via the identify scope — your Discord user ID, username / display name, and avatar. We use these to run the multiplayer experience. We store your daily game for that Discord account (your guesses represented as colored tiles only — never the letters, so results stay spoiler-safe — plus your win/loss status and guess count), along with your streak and stats. We also receive the server (guild) and channel the game is played in, to show the shared board to your friends and to post the daily recap.
We do not collect your email address, real name, password, payment information, or the contents of your Discord messages.
How we use information
We use the information above only to:
- run the daily game and save/sync your progress;
- power “play with friends” — showing each player’s progress, the group card, and leaderboards;
- maintain your streak and statistics;
- post the once-daily group recap in your Discord server;
- operate, secure, and improve the service.
Where your data is stored
Cookies & local storage
PilotWord uses your browser’s local storage to remember your game progress. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Data retention & your choices
We keep game and stat data to run the game and preserve your streaks. You can clear your website progress at any time by clearing your browser’s storage. For Discord data, you can revoke PilotWord’s access in your Discord User Settings → Authorized Apps, and you may request deletion of your stored data by contacting us (below).
Children’s privacy
PilotWord is not directed to children under 13, and Discord requires users to be at least 13 years old (older in some regions). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
